Always treat the messes as soon as you spot them. You can use paper towels to dab up the mess as much as possible with paper, eco-friendly white paper, or even rag. Don t let up the spills as soon as they happen to prevent permanent staining of your upholstery or carpeting. If you are going on vacation and you will be gone from home for a day or two, try to limit your pets access to your home. If you are at home during normal working hours, then make sure all the dishes, cups, bowls and laundry are out of reach to avoid pet hair messes.

Use baking soda for odors to absorb. This is a very effective method for removing pet stains from your carpets and upholstery. Simply dampen a cotton ball with baking soda and gently rub the affected areas on your carpet or upholstery. Then vacuum or wipe the area and the smell should dissipate. You can also add just a drop of vinegar to the baking soda to increase the absorption ability and see faster results.

For stubborn pet stain removal on your upholstery, carpet or floors, try using a solution of one cup of bleach to one quart of detergent. Apply the solution to an area with a rag or cloth, and then scrub vigorously with a vacuum cleaner or a strong detergent-water mixture. Rinse thoroughly after each cleaning. This solution can also be used on stains from fabric softener, urine, and food stains. Simply blot the area with a clean white cloth or use detergent-free fabric spray to absorb.

For stubborn stains on your upholstery, carpet or flooring, try using lemon juice mixed with one cup of white vinegar. Simply wet the area with vinegar and then rub with a cloth to remove stains. However, it might take several applications for your carpet or upholstery to completely be clean. Again, rinse thoroughly after each application. Be prepared, however, for the smell to linger as the Lemon juice acts as a neutralizer for pet stains on fabric and furniture.

If baking soda does not remove pet odors on your upholstery or carpet, then use a solution of one cup of ammonia to one quart of white vinegar. Clean your carpet or upholstery thoroughly with this solution, and then rinse it with warm water. If you have pets, then the odor will be diluted. This will also work if you have a stubborn stain that is not getting removal by regular household cleaners.

For stains on your car, consider using salt or rock salt, which can be found at any auto supply store. Either of these will work. If you have very dark or black paint, you may need to use a bleach based cleaner, such as garage door cleaner or rubbing alcohol. Rubbing alcohol can be used as well if you do not want to take the risk of bleaching the paint. However, once the area is clean with rubbing alcohol, you should allow it to air dry completely before applying another application of cleaner.

Pet odor removers do come in many forms. If baking soda or lemon juice does not remove a stubborn stain on your upholstery or carpet, an alkaline cleaner may. An alkaline cleaner can work on almost any kind of stain, but it is best to find one that contains baking soda and water.
